WMF2EPS: A Windows Metafile Converter for Windows 95 & Windows NT 4.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.0, 11-Mar-98 Author: Wolfgang Schulter EMail: schulter@temic.dofn.de WMF2EPS 1.0 is shareware. History ------- Since WMF2EPS 0.3 was released in 1996, many users reported bugs or asked me to improve either the user interface, such as batch mode running from commandline, or similar. WMF2EPS 0.3 was a real quick and dirty program without too much documentation, since it was intended basically for personal use or for a few expert users. The main reasons for those I've decided to relaese another version of WMF2EPS are: - Windows still lacks of EPS file support. - A lot of programs don't support EPS files properly. - Many users seem to use the program despite of its crude interface. current features of WMF2EPS 1.0 -------------------------------- - The current version should run under Win95, NT4.0. I didn't test it for Windows 3.1 and NT 3.51. - Viewing an arbitrary long list of WMF files (single or multiple) selected by OpenFile dialog, commandline or drag&drop. - collecting WMF's pasted from Clipboard. - quick conversion to Encapsulated PostScript, using a special PS printer driver. changes & enhancements over WMF2EPS 0.3 --------------------------------------- - WMF2EPS 1.0 core graphics routines are completely new. - WMF2EPS 1.0 remembers the last settings now. It uses the old style ini mechanism for that purpose (I don't like that registry too much). - WMF2EPS 1.0 can save & load such settings as differently named configuration files. (I use this for saving different TeX project settings). - WMF2EPS 1.0 can be run in batch mode, i.e. if you like to call WMF2EPS by command line, by RightButton->SendTo, or by double clicking a WMF graph, the program will convert but it won't show a window or modify the current file list. - WMF2EPS 1.0 allows you to modify the original WMF bounding box and the WMF size. - WMF2EPS 1.0 has a new printer driver, which does not require any paper settings by the user any more (apart from the initialisation). - WMF2EPS 1.0 should do proper conversion for graphics sizes of about 1x1 m. Installation ------------ I recommend to have GhostView for viewing the EPS files installed together with WMF2EPS. It can be obtained from http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost. If you have Windows 95, I also recommend getting Adobes enhanced PS driver for Win 95. Version 4.1 can be obtaind from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/printerdrivers/win/ 1. Unpack WMF2EPS from the ZIP archive to any directory, where you have write permission. 2. Install the PS driver (see the Help File for details). 3. Start WMF2EPS and test your installation (see the Help File for details).
